The Eden Central School District presented updates to its districtwide safety plan and opened a 30-day public comment period, a district presenter said. "It'll be open for public comment for 30 days," the presenter stated.
The presenter said highlights from the prior school year included completion of workplace violence training and that the district will continue annual training next school year. The safety committee, which the presenter said is chaired by the presenter and another member (referred to in the transcript as Bridal), will reconvene to review goals and appoint new members to the building-level safety planning teams.
The presenter said most edits to the plan reflect state-driven guidance and emphasized consistent districtwide wording so drill announcements do not trigger emotional reactions among students or staff. The draft plan will be posted for comment for 30 days, and if changes are made the Board will consider adopting the plan in September, the presenter said.
The board did not take a public vote on adoption at the meeting; the next procedural step is the 30-day comment period followed by a possible adoption vote in September.
