Council approves smaller John Deere mower with snowblower, broom and heated cab to save about $9,000

City staff asked the council to approve Resolution 2026-79 to buy a smaller John Deere mower and attachments using existing capital improvement plan funds; staff said the shift reduces the cutting width from 11 feet to 6 feet, improves maneuverability and saves the city roughly $9,000 compared with replacing the larger machine on its regular rotation. "Also, selecting the smaller mower saves the city approximately $9,000 when compared with trying to replace the 11 foot mower on the 5 year cycle," a staff member said.
Staff highlighted that the package includes a year-round heated cab plus a snowblower and broom attachment, allowing year-round use instead of storing the mower during part of the year. A motion to approve the resolution was made by Ferguson, seconded by Baumgartner, and carried with all council members saying "aye." Staff noted there is no budget impact because capital improvement funds will cover the purchase.
