Officials say project was scaled back to improve grant competitiveness

The project team said they continue to apply to multiple grant opportunities and are awaiting outcomes on two pending applications while preparing additional submissions.
Officials also clarified that grant awards would be applied to the project and could reduce the bond amount; they emphasized the town would continue pursuing grants even if the bond proceeds as planned, because demonstrated readiness often helps award decisions.
