Hague agrees to hire consultant to prepare New York Forward grant application

The Town of Hague voted to accept a proposal from a planning consultant to register, prepare and submit a New York Forward application with a deadline in November 2026 and paid consulting support capped at $3,600, the board said.
Tracy Plathair, introduced as a planning consultant, told the board that the New York Forward program typically recommends two small communities per region that would each receive about $4,500,000. "They would each get 4,500,000," Plathair said, describing the typical award size and noting a 25% match requirement the town would need to commit. Projects should be transformative, shovel-ready or concept-ready and grouped in a concentrated downtown boundary.
Board members discussed grant competitiveness and staffing; members observed the town could match the application with projects from the comprehensive plan, including visitor-center replacement, zoning updates, and waterfront-focused projects. The board authorized the contract to prepare the application and noted that additional local matching funds or bonds could be required if the town wins an award.
