General Services says cleaned drains and repaired pipe stopped pooling at Overton Park

Gerald Spencer, deputy director for General Services, told the Parks & Environment Committee that crews traced recent pooling in Overton Park to two storm-drain inlets that had been stopped up and a damaged drain pipe. "What we did to remediate the issue is we cleaned out those storm drains, had the lines clean, washed the lines, and also we repaired the damaged storm drain," Spencer said.
Spencer said he inspected the site after a heavy rain and found no pooling, and that crews will continue to monitor the area. Council members thanked staff for the rapid response and asked for follow-up reporting if the problem recurs. The committee did not take a formal vote on policy; staff described the actions as operational remediation and ongoing monitoring.
