HPISD honors principals, pins new police sergeant and recognizes 15 National Merit Semifinalists

The Highland Park ISD Board used part of its Oct. 15 agenda to honor school leaders, recognize student achievement and mark a police promotion. In observance of Principal Appreciation Month the board thanked principals across campuses for their leadership. Chief of Police Mark Rowden conducted a badge pinning for Officer Steven Michael Connel, recognizing his promotion to sergeant.
"The board recognized 15 Scots named National Merit Semifinalists," the minutes state, noting the district's academic accomplishments alongside athletic successes flagged later by the superintendent. Board President Maryjane Bonfield also "personally thanked each campus principal for all the work they do," per the meeting record. The recognitions were presented as part of routine board acknowledgements and required no formal board action.
