HPISD board approves consent agenda including gifts and interlocal police agreements

The Highland Park Independent School District Board of Trustees voted unanimously Oct. 15 to approve a consent agenda that accepted district and campus gifts, human-resources reports, prior meeting minutes and interlocal cooperative agreements for public safety services.
"Trustee Lee moved that the Board approve the Consent Agenda for the October 15th Board of Trustees Regular Meeting as presented," the minutes state. The approved interlocal agreements include a joint provision of public safety services with the Town of Highland Park and two agreements with the City of University Park to provide a D.A.R.E. officer at MIS-HPMS and a school resource officer at Highland Park High School. The motion was seconded by Vice President Bryce Benson and carried unanimously.
The consent package also listed specific gifts accepted for district programs and individual campuses, including support routed through the Highland Park Education Foundation and several campus PTAs. Board Finance Officer Doug Woodward noted the district's gifts and recapture-equivalent reporting will be reflected in the final audit to be released next month.
The board took no additional formal action during the meeting; adjournment later that evening was approved by unanimous vote.
