Animal Protection Director Tiffany Hubbard told the Council the Animal Control Department needs 28 kennel bank cages, two surgical exam lights and two anesthesia machines previously owned by the Humane Society to maintain operations after management transitioned to the City. Hubbard said the purchase price had been negotiated and the money would come from a transfer within the department's budget to capital purchases; Council approved the $58,417 adjustment unanimously.
Councilors and staff noted a recent $200,000 grant received by the facility and thanked the Humane Society for cooperation during the transition. City Manager Frank Chiapetti encouraged donations of clean newspaper for shelter use.
