Council introduces zoning changes but delays eucalyptus removal pending outreach

Several council members raised concerns about cost, hillside stability, and homeowner impacts if removal were mandatory. One council member asked whether the change might make some lots difficult to develop because removal costs can be substantial.
After discussion, council members agreed to introduce NS-247 with the eucalyptus-tree removal provision removed from the ordinance so staff could conduct resident outreach and further analysis. The council then voted to introduce the ordinance and waive further reading. The vote carried by roll call.
