The Jourdanton Independent School District Board of Trustees voted March 18 to add a Career and Technical Education (CTE) Innovative Course titled "Employability Skills" for all 7th-grade students beginning in the 2025–2026 school year. Trustee Kristi Schulte moved the action, Trustee Kendall Schorsch seconded it, and the motion passed unanimously with six votes in favor and one absence recorded.
Superintendent Dr. Tracy Canter told the board the course is intended to strengthen students' career-readiness skills and to support a smoother transition into high-school CTE pathways and future careers. Trustee Kristi Schulte formally proposed the change on the record: "I move to approve the addition of the CTE Innovative Course \"Employability Skills\" for 7th grade students, beginning in the 2025-2026 school year as presented." The board recorded no opposing votes.
