Ella Trujillo said two bids were received to abate lead, asbestos and mold in the old church on Main Street; a third bidder did not respond. Trujillo said the project is funded entirely through a State Historic Preservation Office grant, but SHPO has not yet completed its approval because of staffing delays, so the city cannot execute a contract until SHPO signs off.
Trujillo explained one bid included mold abatement that could increase cost after drywall removal; the historical society will provide a full update at the next council meeting. Council moved to approve the abatement and to expend grant funds once SHPO approval is received.
