Henderson ISD certifies unopposed District 5 trustee; approves joint election contract with Rusk County

The Henderson ISD Board of Trustees on Sept. 9 certified Lou Madsen as the unopposed candidate for Trustee, District 5, and approved an Order of Cancellation for the Nov. 4, 2025 election. Elections Administrator Dr. Terry Everitt presented the certification and the board approved the recommendation by motion of Dr. John Taylor, seconded by Jean Williams; the vote was 6-0.
The board also approved a general joint election contract with the Rusk County Elections Administrator to handle ballot preparation, early voting, election‑day operations and tabulation for the Nov. 4 election. Under the contract, Rusk County will secure polling locations, staff and train election workers, and HISD will reimburse the county its proportionate share of election expenses. The contract passed on a 6-0 vote after a motion by Loy Dorsey and a second by Shannon Coats. The board's Order of Cancellation states a copy will be posted at each polling place that would have been used on Election Day.
