During the June 9 meeting, the board discussed a rebid for the Village Hall boiler conversion and approved awarding the work to ICM Mechanical Contractors for $82,850.
Palmer explained the project is a conversion tapping a new gas line and said the single responsive bid for $82,850 was less than a prior proposal. "I am requesting that you authorize the replacement of the conversion of the village hall boiler from oil to natural gas be awarded to ICM Mechanical contractors for $82,850," Palmer said. Trustees moved, seconded and voted in favor; the mayor recorded the motion as passed. Administration indicated the project would use an assigned fund balance previously set aside for capital projects or future debt service.
Trustees asked about disruption to turf and the need to dig for gas lines; staff said the line will be brought into a crawl space near the boiler room and that the conversion should reduce the village's carbon footprint relative to oil.
