Bronxville board approves new police records system as grant application remains pending

Village administrators told trustees on June 9 that the Bronxville Police Department needs a new records-management system because its current software is no longer serviced.
Jim Palmer described the recommended system and noted that the village negotiated a reduced price with Motorola. He told the board the Motorola Solutions Flex RMS "is the best" option and that the software upgrade will likely take about six months to implement because of data conversion. "It's gonna take, probably 6 months before this actually gets implemented," Palmer said, outlining conversion time and training needs.
Palmer said the village is part of a small consortium led by the Town of Carmel that applied for $200,000 in grant funding on the village's behalf; that application was still pending at the time of the meeting. Trustees praised the police lieutenant and chief for due diligence in system selection, moved and seconded the purchase authorization, and approved the expenditure. The board acknowledged that an annual subscription fee will be incorporated into future budgets.
