Thomas Denney, chief appraiser for the Kenedy County Central Appraisal District, presented to the Kenedy County-Wide Common School District board on Jan. 15, 2025 about real property exemptions available to property owners. He reviewed homestead exemptions, over-65 exemptions, agricultural productivity valuations and wildlife exemptions and explained how each affects a property's taxable value.
Denney's presentation was informational; trustees received the report and did not take a separate vote on exemptions themselves. The item provided guidance for homeowners and staff as the district and appraisal district prepare tax notices and valuation assessments for the coming year.
