At the Oct. 22 meeting trustees reported on recent tax-increment financing (TIF) discussions and a recommendation from the village attorney to contact the developer who built the local Dollar General to learn which complementary businesses typically cluster around that retailer.
Board members said the developer historically provided a list of complementary businesses and that reaching out could be a reasonable next step to seed interest in the TIF district. Trustees discussed local retail patterns and whether that outreach would be likely to attract desirable tenants; no formal action was taken and staff were asked to pursue contact as an exploratory step.
