Jourdanton ISD board accepts Zonda Education demographic study

The JOURDANTON ISD Board of Trustees voted to accept a demographic study prepared by Zonda Education after a presentation by Trent Smith. The board meeting on March 20, 2025, was called to order by Board President Barbara Peeler; six trustees participated in the vote and Trustee Greg Vyvlecka was absent.

Trent Smith of Zonda Education summarized the study’s findings on population trends, local and regional economic conditions, and student enrollment projections, saying the analysis provided insight into anticipated growth patterns that may affect school capacity and planning. Trustee Nicole Rakowitz moved "I move to accept the demographic presentation from Zonda Education group as presented." Trustee Kendall Schorsch seconded the motion, which passed 6-0 (one absent). The official vote record lists Vance Jupe, Phillip Netardus, Barbara Peeler, Nicole Rakowitz, Kendall Schorsch and Kristi Schulte as voting yea.

Board members did not receive or solicit public comments during the meeting; the agenda and posted policy reminded visitors that personnel complaints must be posted on the agenda and that individuals have five minutes for remarks when public comment is permitted. The meeting notice also stated that the board may convene a closed session under applicable Texas Government Code sections if necessary.

The acceptance of the demographic study is a procedural step that places the Zonda Education projections into the district’s planning record; the board did not adopt any immediate capacity- or budget-specific actions during this workshop. The district posted the agenda at the district administration building and on the Jourdanton ISD website.
