Jan Rittenhouse, treasurer, and Tara Drumm, president, told commissioners the refuge takes in and adopts roughly 200 cats annually and currently houses about 180 with another 80 in foster care. Commissioners thanked the organization for its work but said the guttering project did not present a clear economic-development benefit; Doug Horn moved to deny the request, Duane Monroe seconded, and the motion passed unanimously.
The refuge’s representatives described shelter capacity and adoption activity but did not provide the economic-impact evidence the county requested for EDIT funding consideration.
