Stephanie Gatlin said SHAC staff are in early planning for a community outreach event focused on local drug trends and legal and treatment consequences. The program would invite local law enforcement (police department and sheriff’s office), Department of Public Safety representatives, and a judge to explain what drugs are being seen locally, what charges flow from different drug offenses, and where community members can seek help.
Gatlin said the presentation is expected to be about one to one and a half hours. The plan also calls for district outreach via social media and the Remind system to notify parents; timing is still being developed and may occur this school year or the next, per the minutes.
