Public comment praises Liz Lawler’s experience, but council picks another candidate

Two members of the public spoke at Monte Sereno’s special meeting to endorse Liz Lawler for the vacant council seat, citing her prior council service, experience on the Site and Architecture Commission and involvement with Highway 9 evacuation projects.
Allison (Lisonbee) Zeidler told council she knew Lawler from past local initiatives and praised her knowledge of housing law and regional outreach: "She understands the housing laws very well and our needs as a city, balancing the various constituencies." Kathy Call also spoke in support, citing Lawler’s long-standing community involvement dating to the 1990s. Despite these endorsements, council ultimately appointed Ken Torren after ranked nominations and roll-call voting.
Speakers and several council members thanked all applicants for participating and encouraged unsuccessful candidates to seek service on advisory commissions as a step toward future council service.
