The Monte Sereno Youth Commission spent the bulk of its Oct. 14 meeting developing a plan for a youth-run podcast, intended to be short (about 10–15 minutes), feature interviews with local officials and spotlight community topics. Commissioner Jeremiah presented an episode blueprint and asked for volunteers and support; staff and commissioners encouraged using KCAT facilities and scheduling a pilot episode soon.
"I wanna keep the minutes around 10 to 15 minutes," Jeremiah said, describing an introductory episode that would explain the commission's role and introduce commissioners to listeners. Staff recommended recording video in order to extract audio for Spotify or Apple podcasts and suggested creating a KCAT subchannel titled "Monte Sereno youth commission" to host episodes.
Commissioners discussed episode ideas (interviews with the mayor, police chief and former council members), audience engagement (studio audience and questions), and logistics, including using a portable setup to record in the council chambers or at KCAT. Staff said they would send a Doodle poll to confirm production/practice dates and asked commissioners to submit interview questions by email.
The item was handled as unfinished business; no formal council action was required beyond the scheduling step. Commissioners emphasized outreach, volunteer recruitment and working with KCAT to clear any studio release or scheduling questions before a pilot recording.
