The city manager updated the council on a Silicon Valley Clean Energy (SBCE) noncompetitive decarbonization grant application for photovoltaic panels and battery backup at City Hall. The manager said Monte Sereno's allocation is about $106,000 under the noncompetitive branch and that the SBCE board will consider adding $38,000 per agency at its upcoming meeting; if approved, the city’s allocation would increase accordingly.
"Monastrino, this is a non competitive branch, so each member agency is allocated a certain amount of money based on the population. Monastrino's allocation is about $106,000," the city manager said while reporting the update. (Transcript spelling varied; the intended agency/jurisdiction is Monte Sereno.) Staff said additional funds would enable more electrification work at City Hall, and the SBCE board’s decision will be reported at the next council meeting.
