Kenedy County-Wide CSD sets Aug. 27 public hearing, approves 2025–26 compensation plan

The Kenedy County-Wide Common School District board set a public hearing on the Proposed 2025–26 Budget and Tax Rate for Wednesday, August 27, 2025 at 7:00 PM and approved a districtwide compensation plan during its July 29 meeting.
Secretary Gerardo Medellin made the motion to set the public hearing and Trustee Leticia Vela seconded; the motion passed unanimously. Superintendent Kristen Tinsley led a budget workshop discussion for trustees that covered sources of revenue, the district’s certified property values and anticipated increases in health insurance costs and recapture obligations.
Trustee Vela moved and Secretary Medellin seconded approval of the proposed 2025 compensation plan. The plan includes implementation of the Certified Teacher District Pay Scale with the HB2 increase for certified staff, a 2% raise for professional (non-administrative) staff and a 3% raise for auxiliary and support staff. The motion passed unanimously with three votes.
The board also approved the 2025 Certified Appraisal Roll presented by the county chief appraiser, a step that informs the district’s revenue calculations ahead of the August public hearing.
