Local nonprofit Align With Purpose raises nearly $2,908 toward Barnes Park pool restoration

Representatives of the Monterey Park Historical Society and Align With Purpose updated the council on fundraising and outreach for the Barnes Park Aquatic Center restoration. Dawn Rock, speaking for the Historical Society and AWP, said the group raised $2,907.60 in-kind and in donations at the Cherry Blossom Festival and is coordinating outreach, education and fundraising for a pool rebuild.
Rock thanked volunteers and listed officers and cofounders involved with the effort, invited residents to visit safebarnesparkpool.org for more information and asked for collaborative support from the city and other community groups. Councilmembers congratulated volunteers and staff for the festival turnout and community engagement.
