Monterey Park councilmembers join regional SGV Forward advisory committee to study Line 70 transit improvements

Council members serving on a newly formed SGV Forward ad hoc advisory committee updated the council on efforts to steer Metropolitan Transportation Authority and San Gabriel Valley Council of Governments funding for transit improvements along heavily used corridors.
Council member Jose Sanchez, who represents Monterey Park on the panel, said Line 70 is one of the San Gabriel Valley’s busiest transit lines, with approximately 15,000 daily riders, and that the ad hoc committee’s role is to provide feedback and regional coordination. "MetroShare... there's about 15,000 people that ride Line 70 daily," Sanchez said, urging public participation at the committee’s next meeting on June 8 at the Garvey Community Center in Rosemead.
Members noted the project is complex because it involves four cities and will require agreement on route, design and station configurations. The update was informational; staff and council encouraged community attendance and further coordination with neighboring jurisdictions.
