Hale Center ISD board approves budget transfers to meet CTE requirements and fund HVAC replacements

During the Jan. 23 special-called meeting, Paul Chandler moved that the board approve several budget revisions and fund-balance transfers. The motion, seconded by Heath Huffhines, passed 6–0.
Specifically, the board approved moving $112,812 from Function 11 (Curriculum & Instruction) into Function 36 (CTE) to comply with state requirements that certain funds be spent on CTE. The board also approved moving $5,204.07 from Function 11 to Function 36 (Extracurricular) to cover a Penske rental truck and Carr Middle School band meals; moving $26,575.89 from fund balance into Function 36 for State band trip, State cross-country trip, and district football expenses; and moving $500,158.17 from fund balance into Function 81 to pay for HVAC replacements at Akin, Carr and the Central Office and to contribute toward the Administration Office remodel at Carr Middle School.
The transfers adjust both operating and capital accounts to address compliance and facilities needs; the transcript records approval without additional public discussion of implementation timing or contractor selection. The board proceeded to closed session after completing business and adjourned at 6:46 p.m.
