Charleston planning board advances comprehensive plan outreach; survey closes Aug. 29

The Town of Charleston Planning Board on Aug. 13 updated the community on the comprehensive-plan process and outreach schedule. Board members said the public survey remains open and will close on Aug. 29, and they plan a second community event on Sept. 20 at the Schoharie River Center focused on land use.
Board members said a draft vision statement has been formed from initial event responses and survey input, and consultant Amy reviewed the draft and agreed it reflects the input collected so far. After the survey closes and the Sept. 20 event, Amy will draft the comprehensive plan; the draft will then be routed to Danny for the next internal step and to state environmental review as required.
Vice Chair Amanda Peterson said the board will reuse website launch signs for outreach and is obtaining a banner to display at the Sept. 20 event. The board approved Amy’s invoices through July; minutes note the planning effort has received two of three reimbursements submitted to the State and that the project is "in the black."
