Planning board approves Myerly L-shaped dock extension despite frontage shortfall

The Sodus Point Planning Board approved a preliminary site plan for a dock extension at 8331 South Shore, authorizing an L-shaped expansion (a 30-foot-by-4-foot section and a 35-foot-by-6-foot section) that creates a second dock on a parcel that has 116 feet of shoreline frontage where 150 feet is typically required under Code 86-23.

Vince Myerly and his partner described the L-shaped configuration as necessary "to make it easier to get in and out of their sailboat," and the board noted that the Zoning Board had previously granted approval. Chair Bruce Evener said the waterfront assessment was completed with no concerns flagged. Janine Fogarty moved to approve the dock extension as discussed and William Kedley seconded; the motion passed with recorded votes listed as Evener—aye, Kedley—aye, McKee—aye, Fogarty—aye and Costich—aye.

The board recorded the action as a preliminary site plan approval; members did not describe additional conditions in the meeting minutes. The chair also reminded the public of an upcoming mayoral meeting and the scheduled rehearing for the Tidesides application.
