The Planning Board reviewed short-term rental (STR) regulations used by neighboring towns and asked board members to submit comments promptly so Sodus Point's rules can be benchmarked and, if needed, revised.
Chair Bruce Evener said he had compiled STR regulations from nearby municipalities and referenced an email from a former resident suggesting the board contact Laurie Hayden, an STR association lead, for stakeholder input. Evener also noted that "AirBNBs come under another regulation," indicating that short-term rental activity may be addressed across multiple local codes.
Board members did not adopt any policy changes at the meeting; instead, Evener encouraged members to send thoughts about STR rules as soon as possible so staff can assemble suggested revisions for future meetings.
