Library director: Stonington Township Library membership rising; requests board support for 55th anniversary

Lisa Grover, director of the Stonington Township Library, told the Board the library is beginning to see an increase in patrons with "six new families" joining this year and that the summer reading program was the largest the library has run. Grover said the library operates on a small budget and relies on donations and grants to fund children’s and teen programs; she asked the Board to consider sponsoring events for the library’s upcoming 55th anniversary and to help promote library services.
Grover also told trustees that "less than 20% of the adult population of the Village of Stonington have a library card," a statistic the library reports to the state yearly. Office Manager/Treasurer Kari Scott added the Village will again include library hours on utility bills to boost awareness.
