Lake Dallas ISD recognizes LDHS athletes, FFA, arts and staff achievements

The Lake Dallas Independent School District Board of Trustees opened its Nov. 18 meeting with a series of recognitions highlighting recent LDHS student and staff successes. Robert Gwin, LDHS tennis coach, told trustees the varsity tennis team finished the season 8–3, placed 2nd in District 10‑4A, won Bi‑District and Area championships and advanced to the regional semifinals; he identified individual All‑District honorees including Sadie Dodge (First Team All‑District singles).

Brian Cooper, LDHS cross country coach, reported both boys and girls teams advanced to regionals and cited individual personal records (for example, Dani Harrell 13:11 and Cash McCord 17:14) and 25 top‑15 finishes across the season. Jason Hardin reviewed FFA show results at the State Fair of Texas and the Heart of Texas Fair, naming Laken Chambers and Tatum Harding among top finishers in multiple categories. Lee Blanton said the LDHS BBQ team, the Pit Bosses, placed 5th at the Nocona regional cook‑off and qualified for state competition, with a Grand Champion Ribs distinction among its category finishes.

Jeanette Murray, HS art teacher, noted that seniors Emma Gonzalez and Creedance Blackmon had artworks displayed in the TAEA exhibition at the TAS/TASB convention in San Antonio. Superintendent Dr. Kristin N. Brown recognized 12 district staff members selected as November Teachers & Employees of the Month across schools and departments; a short video honoring the employees was shown during executive session.
