District to replace Blackboard with ParentSquare; phased pilot begins in April

District staff presented a communications plan to transition from the soon-to-be-discontinued Blackboard notification system to ParentSquare. "We will be, transitioning our communication parent engagement platform to an app called ParentSquare," said Ted Love, who described a pilot in April (transportation, athletics and Hastings Mallory Elementary) and full district rollout in July.
Love said ParentSquare supports teacher-to-home communication in addition to district-wide notifications and that parents will receive onboarding information districtwide; he emphasized that the app also works via text and email for families who do not install the app. The pilot is intended to reduce training load and collect lessons learned before full deployment.
