Lake Travis ISD Superintendent Paul Norton announced Nov. 20 that Jennifer Garrigan has been selected as the district’s Director of Counseling and Health Services.
The minutes state that Garrigan brings more than 10 years of K–12 counseling, mental-health services and student-support experience and joins LTISD from Comal Independent School District where she served as Director of Counseling and Student Support supervising over 90 counselors and social workers. The minutes quote the announcement: "Ms. Garrigan brings a wealth of expertise and a passion for student wellness to her new role." Her prior work includes programs for crisis intervention, mental-health training and college-readiness and roles at the University of Texas at Austin and in Clarke County School District and Austin ISD. Garrigan holds a B.A. in English and an M.A. in Counseling Psychology and is certified as a school counselor in Texas, Georgia and California.
The board’s minutes record the appointment as part of Special Recognition; no separate vote was recorded in the public minutes for this personnel appointment and the item was presented as an announcement.
