Board holds second hearing on districtwide safety plan, includes cardiac arrest response for Desha's Law

The Cherry Valley-Springfield Central School District Board of Education held a second public hearing Oct. 2 on its Districtwide Safety Plan. Superintendent TheriJo Snyder said the revised plan includes the cardiac arrest plan required by Desha's Law and explained why a second hearing was held after initial discussion in August.
"Ms. Snyder shared the update and need for the second hearing (first hearing was held in August), which included the cardiac arrest plan because of the required Desha's Law," the district record states. Board members and visitors raised no questions or concerns during the hearing. The board conducted the discussion as part of its regular meeting, which followed an Audit Committee session earlier in the evening.
The hearing clarified that the district intends to align emergency-response procedures with the state requirement for cardiac-arrest preparedness; the transcript does not record a formal vote to adopt the plan at this meeting. The superintendent also outlined related safety work planned for the school year, including an evacuation drill to the Cherry Valley Community Center and an Oct. 10 Conference Day to review reunification procedures.
