District administration presented a recommended list of locally approved courses that would be eligible for exemptions from UIL No-Pass/No-Play rules under section 33.081(d) of the Texas Education Code. The agenda entry lists eligible course types: "Any College Board Advanced Placement (AP) Course or International Baccalaureate (IB) Course and; High school/college concurrent enrollment classes (that are included in Part One of the 'Community College General Academic Course Guide Manual') in the subject areas of English language arts, mathematics, science, social studies, economics, or languages other than English." The administration said locally-determined honors courses in those subject areas may also be established for exemption and that the attached recommended list would be presented for board approval at the Jan. 15, 2025 meeting.
The agenda cites the statutory authority for the exemptions as section 33.081(d) of the Texas Education Code and indicates action will be requested at the Jan. 15, 2025 Board Meeting. The transcript records this as a presentation item; the board did not take action in the segments provided.
