Lake Dallas ISD honors students, teachers and staff for state-level arts and digital-recognition achievements

The Lake Dallas Independent School District Board of Trustees opened its Sept. 9 meeting with recognitions for student and staff achievement.
Jeanette Murray, Lake Dallas High School art teacher, said the district’s Visual Art Departments earned the TAEA District of Distinction for the sixth consecutive year, ‘‘placing LDISD in the top 1.3% of visual arts programs in the state.’’ Melissa Shamp, Lake Dallas High School theater teacher, and members of Thespian Troupe 4101 described completing a nine-month leadership program that helped the troupe earn the Texas Thespian Gold Honor Troupe designation—an honor held by about 90 theater departments statewide.
Katie Landaverde, coordinator for instructional technology, told the board that Common Sense recognized all three Lake Dallas elementary schools for Digital Citizenship, noting districtwide efforts to promote safe, responsible technology use among students. Superintendent Dr. Kristin N. Brown recognized 14 staff selected as Teachers and Employees of the Month for September; the group included classroom teachers, custodial and operations staff, transportation and central services employees.
These recognitions were presented as informational items; no board action was required. Board members paused to acknowledge the programs’ role in student engagement and community outreach.
