The Chazy Union Free School District Board of Education on Dec. 15 unanimously approved a resolution naming the district as lead agency under the State Environmental Quality Review Act (SEQRA) for a 2025–26 Capital Outlay Project at the Chazy Rural School / Industrial Arts Building (SED Control No. 09-06-01-02-0-001-026). Chris Demers made the motion and Jason Bruce seconded; the motion "carried unanimously." The meeting was called to order at 4:07 p.m.
In a separate but related vote, the board approved a resolution making the SEQRA determination for the same project and found, citing 6 NYCRR § 617.5, that the project qualifies as a Type II action and therefore requires no further SEQRA review. Mary LaPierre moved the determination and Craig Giroux seconded; that motion also carried unanimously. The resolutions direct the Board President to complete required SEQRA applications and the District Clerk to circulate and mail notices to involved agencies.
Board members present for the votes, as listed in the meeting attendance, were Daniel Bernard (Board President), Craig Giroux, Jason Bruce, Mary LaPierre, Tim Howley and Chris Demers. The district’s superintendent, Robert McAuliffe, was listed as present. The SED control number for the project is 09-06-01-02-0-001-026, as recorded in the meeting documents.
