Council hears plan to formalize Shelby County match for NCFI contingency

At the planning session Mr. Miller summarized resolution 8912‑26, a memorandum of understanding with Shelby County tied to the NCFI expansion project. Miller said the MOU documents that Shelby County will provide $800,000 if Hoover provides a matching $800,000 toward contingency funding on the project; he said Hoover has already contributed its $800,000.
"This memorandum of understanding is really the agreement with Shelby County for that $800,000," Mr. Miller said, explaining the paperwork exists to "formalize and memorialize" the earlier commitment. Chair asked whether there were questions; none were raised that required postponement. The MOU is scheduled for a council vote on Monday and, according to staff, does not change the city's total outlay on the project beyond documenting the county match.
The planning session discussion focused on confirming the matching arrangement and ensuring necessary paperwork will be before the council for a formal vote.
