Lockhart ISD board cancels Nov. 5 election for three unopposed trustee seats

The Lockhart ISD Board of Trustees voted 7-0 to cancel the Nov. 5, 2024 trustee election for Districts 1, 2 and 3 because the candidates were unopposed and directed staff to post notice in accordance with state law.
The Lockhart Independent School District Board of Trustees voted unanimously on Sept. 23 to cancel the trustee election scheduled for Nov. 5, 2024 for Districts 1, 2 and 3 after finding the seats were unopposed. Trustee Rebecca Pulliam made the motion and Trustee Warren Burnett seconded; "The motion carried, 7-0." The board instructed staff to post notice of the cancellation in accordance with the law.
Board President Michael Wright presided over the meeting in the M.L. Cisneros Education Support Center Boardroom. The decision applies only to the three named trustee districts on the Nov. 5 ballot; the board did not take related action on other elections or ballot measures during the meeting.
