During discussion the committee reviewed the current job description and made no changes; a motion to create the full‑time position carried by voice vote. Committee member Megan Myers proposed (and the committee approved) setting the wage at $58,656 annually; the budget would require increasing the animal control line by $25,556 and eliminating the part‑time position currently budgeted.
Separately, the committee voted to recommend to the full board contracting with Bellwether to perform a joint cost study for animal control and the sheriff's office at a combined cost of $10,000, with funds to come from this year’s contingency account.
