Finance committee backs renewal of county insurance policies totaling more than $344,000

The DeWitt County Finance Committee voted Nov. 18 to recommend that the full county board renew three core insurance coverages for 2025.
During opening remarks, Jay Peterson presented the renewal proposals. The committee voted to recommend renewing property coverage with Pekin Insurance for $37,838.00 (motion by Terry Ferguson, second by Jamie Prestegaard), and to recommend renewing liability insurance with ICRMT for $306,552.00 (motion by Ferguson, second by Megan Myers). The committee also approved continuing unemployment coverage with ICRMT at a rate of 2.1% (motion by Ferguson, second by Prestegaard). All three motions carried by voice vote.
Committee members framed the votes as routine budget items to be forwarded for full‑board approval ahead of next year’s coverage period. The recommendation package will be presented to the county board for final approval at its next meeting.
