Megan Walls, middle and high school principal, and Kerry Adams, director of CSE, briefed the board on secondary- and special-education items. Adams said a ParentSquare group was created for families receiving special education services to facilitate questions and communication, and a special-education parent member attended a virtual training that the district found helpful.
Walls said science teachers discussed the new Earth Science Regents, which she described as reading-heavy, and noted staff attended TCIS refresher and circle training at CVES. Faculty meetings are scheduled every five weeks with a focused data point to measure progress. Superintendent Robert McAuliffe said he contacted the Department of Environmental Conservation about geese on district property and discussed possible radio replacements through BOCES to restore aid radio functionality.
The board also reviewed the CVES Regionalization Plan and recommendations; that review was informational in this session with no final action recorded in the meeting transcript.
