Finance Committee recommends adding Day after Christmas to 2025 holiday list

The DeWitt County Finance Committee voted Aug. 19 to recommend the full board adopt the proposed 2025 Holiday Schedule with the Day after Christmas (Dec. 26, 2025) added. Chair Melonie Tilley noted Christmas falls on a Thursday in 2025 and asked the committee for input; discussion included whether animal control personnel working that day would receive holiday pay.
The motion (Ferguson, 2nd Prestegaard) carried by voice vote. The adopted schedule attached to the minutes lists holiday dates for 2025 including Jan. 1 (New Year's Day), Juneteenth, Independence Day (observed July 4 and a Friday listed), Thanksgiving and the day after Thanksgiving, and Dec. 25 and 26 for Christmas and the day after Christmas.
