Lewisville ISD spotlights campuses for national recognition, students lead pledges

The Lewisville Independent School District Board of Trustees reconvened Oct. 21 and recognized multiple campuses for national distinctions. McAuliffe Elementary was named a 2024 National School of Character, the board noted, and a group of campuses — Hebron Valley, Hicks, Independence, Old Settlers and Polser elementaries, McKamy Middle School and Marcus 9th Grade Campus — earned Apple Distinguished School designation, joining about 1,000 campuses worldwide with that honor.
Board President Jenny Proznik thanked campus principals for their work during National Principals Month and the board acknowledged the contributions of LISD's Digital Learning and Technology teams and teacher and staff efforts that led to the Apple recognition. The district also noted student participation at the start of the meeting: students from Independence Elementary led the Pledge of Allegiance and the Texas Pledge. The board concluded the recognitions portion and proceeded with the regular agenda.
