Board approves innovative courses and 4-H extracurricular and adjunct faculty agreements
Summary
Trustees approved a slate of state-approved innovative and locally developed courses (CTE and electives) and authorized 4-H activities as extracurricular while continuing adjunct faculty agreements with Texas AgriLife Extension.
Director of Curriculum and Special Programs Donna Pugh presented a package of state-approved innovative and locally developed courses for 2024–25, including Advanced Floral Design, Foundations of User Experience, CTE offerings and locally developed math and science courses eligible for state credit. Trustee Mike Stafford moved to approve the courses and Secretary Treva Potter seconded; the motion passed unopposed.
Separately, the board approved requests from Hockley County 4-H and Texas AgriLife Extension to sanction 4-H as an extracurricular activity under 19 TAC Chapter 76.1 and to continue adjunct faculty recognition for extension staff under 19 TAC §129.21(j). Those motions were approved without dissent.
