Sheetz sale, motel demo and signage permits highlighted in project updates

Neil Whitmore, county staff, briefed the Tourism Corridor Review Board on several commercial projects moving through administrative steps at the June 3 meeting. Whitmore said a Sheetz convenience-store project at the corner of Route 11 and Route 39 "had moved forward with the project, and were planning to close on the property later in the month," and that a boundary line adjustment had been completed.
Whitmore also reported that MP2 Contractors were moving ahead with their project and that Keydet General had submitted a permit for upgraded signage with an anticipated October opening. On the Super 8 motel near the corridor, Whitmore said he was unsure whether the motel had been emptied but noted Fire and Rescue hoped to use the building for training before demolition if possible.
