Neighbors report dust plume and a loud bang during Warm Run testing

Two nearby residents described experiences during the racking company's Dec. 15, 2025 activities at the Warm Run site. Edward Showalter, of 309 Warm Run Road, described the site soils as about two feet of topsoil over significant limestone and said he observed drilling equipment and air compressors at the site.
Neighbor Allen Stout told the Board he heard a "loud explosion" on the second afternoon that frightened his chickens and that he photographed "a plume of smoke rise in the air." County staff and company statements said pressurized air used to clear rock dust can create visible plumes; the County said it found no evidence explosives were used and sent a cease‑and‑desist to halt activity while it investigated.
