Principals report strong opening to school year; Meet the Teacher turnout and new cell-phone rule noted

Middle/High School Principal Megan Walls told the board that the start of the 2025–26 year went smoothly, reporting that 'There was a fair amount of families who showed up for the "Meet the Teacher" night on September 2, 2025.' She said students attended a freshman meeting to review expectations, were able to check lockers and meet teachers, and that 'No major issues with the new cell phone policy.' Walls said she will continue a school-wide H.O.P.E. theme for the year.
Elementary Principal Krista Ringer reported delayed summer access prevented many elementary classrooms from being used during Superintendent’s Days on Sept. 2–3, making those preparation days light; she said grade-level meetings will occur roughly every four weeks and praised staff and PTO for support. Director of Special Education Kerry Adams thanked staff for help with scheduling, said she will ride the bus to CVES to visit students, and clarified that 611 and 619 special education grant determinations are set by the state and administered locally. Administrators announced Homecoming preparations the week of Sept. 22, a pep rally on Sept. 26 and dances on Sept. 27 (middle school 7–9 p.m.; high school 8–10 p.m.).
