Tammy Dittman raised public-safety concerns about hydrants and asked the council how serious it is about community safety, saying "it doesn't seem like there is concern about the hydrants." Dittman asked whether money is budgeted for hydrant work, offered an app to help review delinquencies, and said she would follow up with staff members after the meeting.
Council members asked the city attorney to locate and share any existing memorandum of understanding with the (North Lyon) fire district regarding hydrant testing and flow testing; City Attorney Aaron Mortensen said he would research and provide the document. Dittman told council there is a 2015 SOP that was never signed and that it lists the fire department for inspections but appears outdated; council asked staff to follow up and provide clarity on responsibilities and any needed updates to procedures.
