Mercedes ISD details grant budgets and health insurance fund pressures

At the Aug. 20 public hearing, Mercedes ISD Chief Financial Officer Sylvia Garza summarized special revenue and benefits-related budgets. She listed the Special Revenue Fund’s proposed total at $8,542,406, including ESSA Title programs, the Special Education Cluster and the 21st Century Community Learning Centers grant (Cycle 12).
Garza also said the Health Insurance Fund proposed budget shows premium contributions of $5,364,350 and total insurance expenses of $6,270,996, and that the district expects a decrease in that fund balance of $906,646. The figures were presented for trustees’ information; no action was taken at the hearing.
